The Krinnenspitze is a popular summit destination in the Tannheimer Valley, especially since it rises relatively isolated directly above Lake Haldensee and even has a lift on the north side up to half height. However, this suggestion points to the quieter side of this quite varied mountain. From the hidden hamlet of Rauth, the Gamsbocksteig and Enziansteig can be combined – two routes that are more likely to appeal to experienced mountain hikers.
From Rauth, 1140 m, diagonally left uphill through the mountain forest to the fork of Enziansteig and Meraner Steig. We suggest taking the latter to the right and shortening the loops of a forest road in the plateau forest. At its end, the route runs parallel to the slope into the north side and suddenly turns into a very comfortable path. We follow this until about 300 meters before the Krinnenlift, where the Gamsbocksteig branches off uphill, approx. 1520 m. Winding up through the slope hollow to the eastern ridge of the Krinnenspitze, from the shoulder in a curve into the southeast flank and up towards the crest. After a small ascent, the summit-near rocky sections (some chains) still have to be tackled, before we reach the Krinnenspitze, 2000 m.On the descent over the wide grassy slope towards the southwest, always keeping left at the junctions. At a kind of saddle, approx. 1835 m, we turn east onto the rather sparse Enziansteig, while to the other side one could head to the Gräner

Mark Zahel
