The Kreuzeck is an inconspicuous, somewhat hidden summit above a huge, horseshoe-shaped alpine bowl, which is equally appreciated by hikers and ski tourers and therefore receives visitors all year round.
From the Halmoosalm, 1300 m, on the forest road about 400 m to a fork in the road (2nd parking lot), there turn right and after another approx. 700 m turn left to Karteisalm, 1659 m (trail no. 53 or AV trail 721). We hike uphill through the forest at a gentle incline to the alpine pasture, then straight ahead over sparsely wooded pastures into a large basin to a fork in the trail, 1880 m. Right to “Glettenalm” (variant 1) and Kreuzeck west ridge (variant 2), left over open, steepening and intersected by several water gullies slopes to Karteistörl, 2149 m (see also tour “Gurenstein, 2220 m”). From there it goes right along the ridge (fence) to the nearby Kreuzeck, 2205 m, whose summit marker the hiker already has in sight during the ascent through the alpine bowl. Descent like ascent (advised when accompanied by children) or via the well visible Glettenalm back to the starting point. For this, from the summit first descend a bit on the west ridge, then turn left and reach Glettenalm,
