Kräuterbauden circular route
The Kräuterbauden circular route has the Weifbergturm as its main destination. But the ascent to the tower also leads through a scenic idyll of pastureland and small mixed forests.
The Kräuterbaude is an ideal starting point for a short hike before or after a hearty meal in the cabin. Since there is no hiking parking lot, one should at least inform the host that they also intend to be a guest of the house. The Weifbergturm, made of wood, is a very remarkable viewpoint.
The 360° panorama offers a view from the Schluckenauer Zipfel to the Hoher Schneeberg in Bohemia and the table mountains in Saxony.
Within this large radius lies the Hintere Sächsische Schweiz with Zschand, Affensteine, and Schrammsteine.

The Kräuterbaude is an ideal starting point for a short hike before or after a hearty meal in the cabin. Since there is no hiking parking lot, one should at least inform the host that they also intend to be a guest of the house. The wooden-constructed Weifbergturm is a very remarkable viewpoint.
The route starts from the Kräuterbaude parking lot uphill along the animal enclosures. At the next fork, turn left. We walk through meadows and small woods to the Luisenquelle. From here, continue uphill to the signpost that points to options for further hikes (to the Upper Lock, to the panorama path, ...). On the return route, we later turn west. Then we continue to a nicely situated rest bench. From here you can already see the Weifbergturm nearby and the view sweeps over a calm, hilly pasture landscape. Almost at the summit, we turn right for a short time onto a forest road, which we leave after a few meters at a signpost towards the tower.
The almost 37-meter-high tower, built of solid wood, can be climbed over 173 steps. There are several intermediate floors with information boards and seating. But the panoramic view from the top floor is unbeatable. We are here far above the treetops. Since the Weifberg already lies 478 meters above sea level, we are at a height of 505 meters here!
The return route is initially the same as the ascent. At the signpost with the lovingly painted Kräuterbaude, we turn west. It goes through a clear-cut area marked by bark beetle infestation from 2020-2023. We soon reach Saupsdorfer Straße, from which it goes uphill to the left to the Kräuterbaude.
