Here, the Wienerwald and the Danube are crossed on a route that is not very demanding in terms of elevation. An entertaining ferry ride, Greifenstein Castle, the charming bay at Greifenstein, and the power plant round off the route.

We leave Klosterneuburg train station to the right onto the station square with the inn Zum alten Zollhaus. After a right turn into Donaustraße, we go under the railway and at the next street triangle, turn half-left into Parkweg. Follow it to its end, then sharply turn left along Fischerzeile. Soon it flows into Kanalstraße, which we follow to the right to the Danube. Then turn left along Donaulände until we reach the easily recognizable cable ferry. It takes us cheaply and pleasantly across the river. On the shore, turn left and follow the Lower Austria local hiking trail, which runs diagonally right along the forest edge through meadow-like terrain to the beginning of the built-up part of Klosterneuburg. Again, turn left through Rollfährestraße, at its end we bridge the creek of the Klosterneuburger Durchstich. Past the station, across the nice, inviting town square, until shortly before another street triangle. Here, turn right into Albrechtstraße and continue it for some time. At the fourth left turn, turn left into Ziegelofengasse and then at a fork, half-right up Käferkreuzgasse. Follow it to its end and at the junction with Holzgasse, again turn left. Now follow the markings along the street, past Weißer Hof, until Zinnleiten merges from the right. Shortly after, turn left into wooded terrain, through which we later reach Hadersfeld. Here, turn left onto the main street, then half-right up Alois-Aigner-Gasse. Follow the green marking towards Höflein until path 475 branches left to Greifenstein Castle. Pass this sight, which is not publicly accessible, down to lovely Greifenstein, where we turn right at the charming bathing bay and reach its northern shore by turning left over a dam. Follow the path right along to the tip of the land and from there upriver along the Danube towards the unmistakable power plant. Pass it (with some luck, you might catch a ship in the lock), then half-left, following the markings, through the forest back to Greifenstein Bay. We continue strolling upriver to its end and there turn left southward, away from the Danube, onto Hafenstraße. Immediately after the sewage treatment plant, turn left into Schredengasse and, following the markings, to Greifenstein-Altenberg train station. Nothing can go wrong; with the bay on the left, the direction is clear.
