The expansive Knoten region captivates visitors with its contiguous forest and grassland areas, which are largely free of public roads. This allows you to experience the peace and seclusion of nature here in a particularly intense way. The tour follows varied trails through quiet stretches of forest and across open landscapes, repeatedly offering beautiful views.
The Oberroder Knoten is thus an ideal hiking destination for anyone who wants to escape everyday life for a few hours and recharge their batteries. Be sure to take some time for a short break along the way, enjoy the fresh Westerwald air, and let your gaze wander over the landscape.

Safety information
If you feel that certain sections of the trail are impassable for you, you should avoid them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural trails can have muddy and slippery sections.Especially in the fall, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can hide uneven surfaces, roots, rocks, or holes in the trail. You should expect obstacles of this kind when you go hiking.
Although the trail is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons you should always carry a suitable hiking map or download the free “Rheinland-Pfalz erleben” app.

Roadbook
At 605 meters, the Oberroder Knoten is the easternmost foothill of the Hoher Westerwald extending toward the Lahn Valley and has always been an important border region. This is where the districts of Westerwald, Lahn-Dill, and Limburg-Weilburg meet. At the same time, the Knoten forms a watershed and climatic divide and delights visitors with its expansive forest and green landscape. This makes the area a special nature experience in every season—whether hiking or skiing in winter.
Time and again, you’ll be treated to beautiful views of the High Westerwald landscape. The route then takes you back along quiet forest and farm roads to Oberrod, where this varied circular hike comes to an end.
