Park in the parking lot at the monastery, pass the monastery. Climb the hill until we are above Stauf and continue on our path until we reach a playground. From there we turn into the forest. After about another half hour we reach the Göllheimer Cabin (worth a visit here). From there we keep left on L396 towards Göllheim, Kriegsberger Hut; follow the forest path until we reach the road junction to Kloster Rosenthal. We turn right, can already see the hut from here, but keep left of the road to the monastery. After 100m we turn left, follow our signs, also follow a field edge strip downhill to the Grauwald settlement. Shortly before that we turn right in the valley bottom and follow our sign; after crossing the stream we follow field paths to the Kerzweilerhof. After crossing the road we reach a barrier into the forest after 200m, at the next road junction we follow the leftmost path, slightly ascending. After a sharp left curve we follow the path almost flat going west. After 3 minutes we reach a viewpoint with a rest area. From here there is a magnificent view over the Rhine Plain and the village and Kloster Rosenthal. Downhill we follow until the monastery pond. Go through the monastery courtyard and come to the parking lot after a few minutes.

    Safety information

Especially in autumn, pay attention that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you consider certain path sections impassable, you should detour them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections.

Well marked; almost all paths follow markings of the Palatinate Forest Club

    Tips and suggestions

Refreshments: In Stauf, Göllheimer Cabin, in the Kriegsberger Hut loop, or in the monastery itself.

    Equipment

Sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, sun and rain protection, and sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always dining or shopping opportunities available or open. Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons you should always carry a suitable hiking map.
