Although a well-marked, glacier-free trail secured with a thin wire rope near the summit leads to the Keeskogel, the tour should only be undertaken by the hiker under favorable summer conditions. To encounter favorable conditions even on summer days at the considerable altitude of almost 3300 meters (firn on the steep old snow fields and ice-free rock), it may be advisable not to start too early from the hut, but to inquire there beforehand in any case. The view of the Großvenediger and the huge glaciers in its surroundings is spectacular!
On the southeast side of the Kürsinger Hut, three paths fan out. The left path leads to the Keeskogel. On this, you first ascend eastwards over a ridge, then cross a block field and finally reach a small water channel. To the left of it, a short ridge, then a scree slope and finally a small steep step (dangerous with hard snow!) lead to a small shoulder. Now the terrain gradually levels off. The marked trail winds through an extensive block field before heading over a block ridge towards the summit ridge, which steepens considerably in the last 100 meters and requires easy climbing as well as sure footing on scree bands. The thin wire rope just below the highest summit of this hiking guide should be used with the necessary caution. Descent only on the ascent route!
