On the leisurely half-day hike to the well-known inn in Katzbrui, a detour leads to the hidden Celtic fortification, a rectangular fort with a rampart and ditch. In the Katzbrui spring, you can still find Alpine strudel worms and spring marsh snails.
We walk in Unteregg, 717 m, from the bus stop in the village center along the road towards Mindelheim downhill and, outside the village, take the first left forest road past a pond. Shortly before a forest worker's hut, turn right onto a forest path, then turn right again onto a forest road and, after crossing a small stream, keep right for the third time along a faint path to a small hunting stand. Here in the quiet young spruce forest of the Mindel valley, you discover the extensive Celtic fort south of the path with a watchful eye.We go back and, at the hut, briefly take the Kneipp hiking trail to the left. After the forest, a paved farm road leads us up to the hamlet of Eberscholl. In front of the rear farm, we go down into the Westernach meadow valley and shortly reach Köngetried.After the church, we take the village street, briefly follow the road "Sägenberg," and turn onto the farm road towards the Mariengrotto. In the valley bottom, the two-armed Westernach is crossed again,
