Arrival by train to Altendorf / Buttenheim train station. The route is well marked, and you always follow the sign with the blue carp on a white background. From Altendorf, the route leads over paved roads and bridges over the canal and the Regnitz to Seußling, then through forest and fields to Großbuchfeld and Rothensand, and continues to Schlüsselau. From there, you hike further to Röbersdorf along the Reiche Ebrach via Erlach and Sassanfahrt to Hirschaid. From there, you can either return along the Main-Danube Canal to Altendorf or go directly to Hirschaid train station.
In general, the route often goes on paved roads and through many villages.
