Largely on forest and alpine paths with few continuous ascents, an idyllic view, and without technical difficulties, the Karleckrunde is an ideal introductory tour to the Haller Mauern and also well suited for children. Two huts invite you to stop for a break, and the alpine museum is a weekend stopover. The view of Bosruck and Großen Pyhrgas motivates further adventures.
After the barrier at the end of the Ardning Alm Hut parking lot, 1037 m, we follow the gravel road over the alpine pasture and cross the Schneebach stream. On the right side of the road, a small water wheel turns, making the spot a fun resting and water play area for children. Shortly after the stream, we reach a fork; straight ahead, the alpine museum in the Pfarrerhütte can be reached in a few minutes – note, the museum is only open on weekends! We turn left instead and follow the signpost towards the "Karleck-Runde (Arlingsattel)". After about ten minutes, we reach a junction at 1220 m: here a path branches left to the Arlingsattel. However, we continue straight on the gravel road to the Bacheralm, 1300 m. Shortly before the alpine hut, a path leads left from the road and gently ascends along the Bachermauern to a solitary, distinctive tree against the magnificent backdrop of the Haller Mauern with the Scheiblingstein.
