The entertaining but steep hike leads from the Heilsteinhaus to the elevation with a beautiful view over the Rursee, further into the slopes above Einruhr to the viewpoint "Jiescheckerdeeischelche". The panoramic view rewards the strenuous ascent.
The route starts just a few meters from the Heilstein fountain. The healing properties of the water were probably known by the Romans, as coin finds suggest. Access to the spring was initially denied to the Einruhr population after World War II, as it springs from the former military training area Vogelsang. This only changed in 2003 with the construction of the
Heilstein fountain in the courtyard of the Heilsteinhaus. The refreshing water should be tried!
After about 800 m, you reach the Obersee viewpoint. In 1958, the Obersee between Einruhr and Rurberg was impounded for the first time. It can hold a total of 23 million m³ of water and is mainly fed by the Rur. In the event of flooding, it is additionally filled via an overflow from the Urft dam.
The route continues through the slopes above Einruhr, where you reach the viewpoint "Jiescheckerdeeischelche".
On the way back, you continue through the forest and thus return to the starting point. Here, the water garden at the Heilsteinhaus invites you to relax and refresh weary spirits after a hike.
