This trail offers an alternative return route for trail 03, circling back to Vathy through old trails and places interlaced with the stories of the elders.
A relaxing route that takes you from Perachori high up on the steep side of the mountain to the peaceful port of Vathy. You are at the highest point of Perahori in "Pano Chorio", in front of the gate of the old church of the settlement. You descend between the beautiful houses, pass in front of the bell tower of the new church of Panagia and reach a natural terrace of the settlement with a panoramic view of Perachori, Vathy and the Ionian Sea. You cross the settlement downhill walking on a steep road until you reach a crossroad. On the right you see the church of Agios Gerasimos. You are now in "Kato Horio". Take a look behind you: the image of the settlement attached to the steep slope of Petaliatikos mountain is evocative! From here you will follow the old road that connected Perachori with Vathi, descending next to the stream. Leaving behind the last houses of the settlement, you reach a small stone bridge. Here is the "Entrance Gate" of Perahori - a place of welcomings, disembarkations and farewells.
You leave the village and continue downhill in the wooded gully until you enter the fields of Vathy. A path with stone walls on both sides passing by an old windmill will give you a perfect rural picture just a few meters outside the urban center! When you reach the town, a magnificent stone staircase will lead you right to the church of Panagia ton Blachernon, a characteristic building of the Venetian era. After the temple, going down the stone-paved steps, you will have the opportunity to collect wonderful images of the settlement of the previous centuries - two-storey houses of traditional Heptanisian architecture, wooden doors with carved representations, balconies with elaborate furousia, paved courtyards, beautiful courthouses - and you quickly reach the city center, and the port.
