Shortly after Spindoli, ascend the steep road to Agriturismo La Castagna to leave the car at the parking lot and descend just below where, at an old sign on the wall, leave the descending road turning right onto a wide mule track, s.n., towards the small hamlet of Vallibbia. (1,2,3,4,5)
Continue on the right on asphalt passing the church and shortly afterwards at Spindoli, follow s.276-A and the clear signs to Rocca di Spindoli. (6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14)
With a steep path, s.276-B, reach the overlooking Rocca, well illustrated by the sign, which despite collapses is still of notable interest for the tower with the imposing wall of the remaining palatium where the passage to enter the few remaining rooms is located. (15,16,17,18,19,20)
Returning to the junction, take s.276-A which shortly ascends steeply on the right with a path that is at times disconnected, arriving at the Acera Spring and then continuing straight on the trail to the broad saddle of Fonte Merennino. (21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30)
After passing the beautiful fountain, continue straight, s.215, moving away from the pine wood above and crossing a scrubby area on an evident trail with Prato Pero and M. Rapina ahead; below is the forested valley to descend. (31,32,33,34)
After an almost flat stretch, descend to the right, b.274-B, always on s.215 with a path that gradually becomes steep and rocky before returning comfortably to the old houses of Castagana, now reduced to ruins, and to the beautiful complex of Agriturismo La Castagna.
