From Sigillo to the South Takeoff area for paragliders and hang gliders, starting point for the visit to the M. Cucco Cave and many possible excursions. (1,2,3)
The route follows for a short stretch, with trail 226 (2), the same path that leads to the Cave; it leaves a first junction on the left and at the second, in Valcella, it climbs, with trail 240 (15) on the left to the nearby signboards. (4,5,6,7,8,9)
At the junction with trail 239 (14) and a few small unmarked deviations, it passes by the cross then, with a steep but short slope, to the summit of M. Cucco. (10,11,12,13,14,15)
Here too there are superb panoramas: from the Marchigiana Ridge with S. Vicino that lets the gaze slide to the white Sibillini to then return to the Umbro-Marchigiana Ridge where you feel like caressing the velvety ridges supported by the famous beech woods; then it’s the turn of the mighty Catria with the rocky bastion overlooking Isola Fossara; of the Strega that frees the edges of its wide cloak. (16,17,18)
Descend with trail 239 (14) to the junction with trail 226 (2), which to the right goes to the Cave, continue on the left to the beginning of Valrachena leaving aside b.228 (2c) where trail 240 (15) starts that skirts the southern slope, beware, at the small pass, to immediately descend with two small gullies which, a little below, form a single path to follow towards the left. (19,20,21,22)
After passing the Frozen Spring the trail 240 (15) winds along the mid-slope opening the horizon towards the Ridge and the Sibillini then leads to b.239 (14) descending to Valcella then with trail 226 (2) to Pian del Monte. (23,24,25,26,27,28,29)
