The itinerary begins by parking the car in the equipped area of Vercata (from where path 286 (30) starts after passing by car along path 281 (25), towards which you must return by walking about 400 meters. (1,2,3)
At the first junction on the right take the dirt road that goes up, path 281 (25), until you flank a beautiful pine forest on the left reaching the dirt road coming from Borghetto. (4,5)
Turn right and after three hairpin bends you arrive at Poggio, so called for the beautiful view of the underlying Lake Valley. (6,7,8)
You will encounter in succession: a first junction to take right, the second to left and the third to right where for a short stretch the dirt road crosses a false flat. (9,10,11,12)
At the junction you can take either side since they join a little further on. (13)
Continue for about 50 meters on the road then turn right into a dirt road that ascends until you reach the meadow of the Lords where, on the left, there is the century-old forest of Cese rich in beeches and hornbeams. (14,15,16,17)
Follow the forest up to the signpost located near an old beech tree with a large fissure where a person can enter. (18)
Continue ascending with path 281 (25), b.s.290 (37) on the left, on the green meadow curving left to reach, diagonally, the last edge of the beech forest where Mount Montarone with its mighty antennas emerges. (19,20)
After briefly crossing the beech forest, you find yourself at the saddle with the road that connects the provincial road from Val di Ranco to Bastia in Marche. (21,22,23)
Without crossing the road (where just below there is path 127E) take path 235 (9) heading south which runs along the long ridge separating Marche and Umbria, from which you can enjoy a beautiful and vast panorama. (24)
Continuing along this path you surpass several peaks. The first is Mount Pratiozzo, a spacious and green summit with below the saddle and b.127A on the left and little visible, towards S. Cassiano. Continue on a ridge being careful of some rocky stretches arriving at Cima Filetta easily identifiable by a marker and a signpost. (25,26,27,28)
Descend overcoming a rocky step and other rocks up to another signpost and then to Mount Sasso Grande. (29,30)
This is the last ridge before descending, flanking on the right a steep rocky spur, to the grassy saddle where you turn left following some stakes to reach shortly Passo di Chiaromonte, an important and historic crossing of a Roman side path. (31,32,33)
Here starts the b.127 which descends on the left towards S. Cassiano, while this itinerary continues on the right towards south always with path 235 (9).
Descend flanking a stratification of red rock on the left and then, diagonally to the right, to flank Mount della Rocca through a beautiful beech forest with some ups and downs. (34,35,36,37)
You come out onto a meadow, on the left you see Mount Lo Spicchio, without entering the valley but continuing on the right at half slope on a small path that is sometimes easy to confuse with many of the transhumance paths. (38,39,40,41,42)
Arriving at a small grassy saddle, below Mount della Rocca, there are signs of the gas pipeline and a signpost with path 235 (9), which continues straight to Fossato di Vico, and the start of path 286 (30) which descends on the right to Vercatura. (43,44)
After La Sforcatura follow the indications for about 600 meters then turn left to go down, overcoming some brambles, into a beech forest. The path, at first barely visible, becomes increasingly evident until exiting the forest with a very muddy dirt road due to water streams also caused by livestock passage and wild boar wallows. (45,46,47)
You encounter small paths to disregard until a fork where you must continue right. After about 100 meters you find another deviation that on the right leads to the fountain of Trocchi di Purello. (48,49,50,50)
Continue descending to resume on the left the dirt road left earlier.
After about 800 meters and three hairpins you arrive to cross the sources of Fosso Vetorno, interesting for its waterfall which descends on various rock stratifications from a height of about 10 meters. (51,52)
Soon, after crossing a small ford, the dirt road now flat flanks the Vetorno until arriving at the equipped area of Vercata where there is also a beautiful spring and small bridges for crossing the brook. (53,54,55)
