The Wäller Route Iserbach Loop is fairly challenging with its partly steep ascents and a length of 20.8 km. Therefore, between Thalhauser Mill and Anhausen, a 3.2 km long shortcut (yellow marked) is offered. This cross connection allows the division of the Iserbach Loop into two moderate partial stages.
Lovely brook valleys and fantastic views are the highlights of the varied hike on the northern section.

Roadbook
Starting point of the "Wäller Route Iserbach Loop - Hiking in the Rhein-Westerwald Nature Park" and thus also of the North Loop is Anhausen, parking lot Auf dem Löh. From there, it goes counterclockwise via the yellow-marked shortcut towards Thalhauser Mill. Directly behind Anhausen, we enjoy the great view of Montabaur Heights, where the Köppel observation tower and two telecommunication towers greet us. Along quietly babbling brooks, the shortcut leads us to Thalhauser Mill, where after about 3 km we meet the Iserbach Loop.
From now on, we encounter large and small fish ponds, water flows and gurgles, and we feel the richness of water in this wonderful spot on earth. Finally, we arrive at Veltens Pond and enjoy a rest at the beautiful picnic table.
From there, the path takes us straight into the district of Rüscheid with the new nature trail "Dremherem em Reschd" (Around Rüscheid). Lovingly created information boards make us curious about this place. At the highest point, we cross the L 258 (caution!) and enjoy the wonderful view into the opposite Jahrsbach Valley from the Bürgermeister-Wink hut. Passing Himmelsteich and the sports field, we walk over lush meadows to a small lookout platform. Here, on a clear day, the hiker can enjoy an almost panoramic view that extends east to the Großer Feldberg in the Taunus (70 km) and west to the Hohe Acht in the Eifel. The path leads back to Anhausen through a mysterious forest and lets us enjoy more views along the way. The final highlight is the historically impressive Anhausen church from the 13th century.
Gastronomy
There are of course dining options along the route. Among others, in Anhausen the Gasthof Tross or on the way at Thalhauser Mill.
