Weißenburg (French: Wissembourg) is located in Alsace directly on the German border and has about 7,600 inhabitants. The old town with well-preserved city walls and the water system or canals is impressive.
If you want extensive information about Weißenburg, the PDF file "City Tour Wissembourg" is an interesting source:

There are many parking options along the Lauter. Please note that parking time in the old town is limited. You can park on Boulevard Clemenceau, at the outdoor swimming pool, or at the hotel/restaurant "Au Moulin de la Walk". Navigation: 22 Bd Clemenceau, 67160 Wissembourg, France.
Here is the way:
- Follow the hiking sign of the long-distance trail GR 532 (yellow rectangle on white background) along the Lauter and along the city wall.
- Shortly after the outdoor swimming pool and after crossing the Lauter bridge, turn left and pass the impressive mill.
- At the next Lauter bridge, leave the long-distance trail. Go left over the bridge and immediately right again. This is followed by an idyllic nature trail along the Lauter. However, this path section has no hiking signs.
- When you arrive in Weiler, our hiking trail turns sharply left and after about 100 m you reach the hiking trail "green cross on white background", which you follow to the right.
- After the church of Weiler and by the cemetery, you leave the "green cross on white background" and follow the road towards the lakes or the Langenburg castle. From this junction, the "green circle on white background" leads you over the Vosges foothills and past the hospital to the old town. Alternatively: Circumvent the lakes and then climb steeply up to the Langenburg castle. This route corresponds to the GPX track.
- Let yourself drift in the old town until you reach the starting point again. Restaurants and cafes invite you to rest.
