On the Hoher Riegel, right on the border between Austria and Hungary, there is a lookout tower that can be reached on this particularly varied route starting from Ágfalva: An idyllic forest pond and the romantic mining town of Brennbergbánya (Brennberg) lie on our path.
From the Protestant church in Ágfalva, we continue a bit further on the main street and then turn left into Patak utca. Continuing straight, we enter Magyar utca, which at its end turns into a gravel road with asphalt remnants. Bike path no. 3 branches off to the right; we continue straight along a power line. At the edge of town, we maintain our direction, enter the forest, and come across a red trail marker coming from the left and continuing straight ahead. The trail ascends noticeably and meets a wide crossing gravel road in a few minutes – the former route of the mine railway to Brennberg. Here the red marker turns right, while we continue straight to a parking lot above the idyllic forest pond Fehér úti-tó. We hike down to the shore – there are several rest benches here – and follow it to the right.We walk across a meadow to the west and meet the road which has so far run somewhat higher up the slope parallel to us.
