From Bornhagen to Hanstein Castle to Ludwigstein on the youth movement route around Hoher Meißner to the Hausener Hut LM-Weg.
Your hiking route runs from Hanstein Castle ruins to Hoher Meißner. You start at the historic Klausenhof in Bornhagen and hike to Rimbach, passing by probably the most beautiful castle ruin in Central Germany. Many legends surround this historic site in the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park.
Next, you walk a stretch along the former Kolonnenweg, cross the Werra in Werleshausen, and reach Ludwigstein Castle. The originally late medieval castle was rediscovered and restored in 1920 by the youth movement. It is already in the Geo-Nature Park Frau Holle Land.
The further path leads you past Hansteinblick and the viewpoint at Habichtsstein and steadily uphill. At Weißenbach, you cross the Bühlchen nature reserve. During the ascent to Hoher Meißner, you circle around the Bransrode quarry. The destination of your hike at 709 meters altitude is the Hoher Meißner mountain inn. The area is known as the home of the fairy tale Frau Holle.
