Eisernes Tor shelter closed on Mondays, closed in JulyRoadbook
From the car park at the Haidlhof panorama board, the path goes through a tree-lined avenue, an information board shows us the way to the Opfersteine, Hergottsbuche, and the Hoher Lindkogel (Path No. 40 / B3a, Kalkgraben). We follow Path No. 40 until it crosses Path 404, there we keep left to the Brenner Steig (steep) or via the Karlsruhe (easier, only 5 minutes longer) and continue to the Hoher Lindkogel. At the Sinawarte, we have a beautiful view and at the Eisernes Tor shelter, we can take a break (closed on Mondays). From the Hoher Lindkogel, we go a bit back the same way to the Merkenstein junction (right B3). Right after Merkenstein Castle, a short climb to Merkenstein with a viewing tower and the Türkenbrunnen. Back again to the castle and continue on the B3. At the first house turn left and leave the B3 to the right into the tree-lined avenue and are back at the Haidlhof car park.
