Very nice circular hike with four places to stop for food along the way. Very nice view over the Rhine valley from the summit of the Hohe Kugel.
The descent to the Emser hut is partly exposed, but the rest of the hike is absolutely family-friendly.

From Ebnit, follow the road to Heumöser Alpe. Here is the first place to stop for food. Continue along the road up to a turnstile (see photo) shortly before the Lindenbachalpe. After the turnstile, immediately go right up a narrow path. There is no signage here. You climb over meadows and woodland areas to Schneewaldalpe and further to Kugelalpe (second place to stop for food). On this section, you walk over a meadow full of orchids and other beautiful flowering plants in June. From the Kugelalpe, it takes about 20 minutes to reach the summit of the Hohe Kugel, from where you have a magnificent view of the Rhine valley and the surrounding mountains.
From the summit, head northeast over the Kuhboden, past point 1572m Briedleralpe to the Emser hut (third place to stop for food). This section is partly somewhat exposed and secured with a wire rope at one point. The path runs beautifully along a wooded ridge down to the Emser hut. From here, follow the road back to Ebnit. Along the way, you pass Pfarrers Älpele. It is recommended to stop here and try the excellent menu (see photo). From here, it takes only a few minutes back to the starting point in Ebnit.

Equipment
Normal hiking equipment. The shoes should have a well-profiled sole, as the descent to the Emser hut can be slippery when wet. Jogging shoes are rather unsuitable here.Localization
