The Venter Hörnle is not an independent summit but only the shoulder of the mighty Talleitspitze, which shapes the village as a backdrop mountain like hardly any other. From the Hörnle, we get a perfect view back of the picturesque mountain village and also take in the Wildspitze with its satellites as well as the elevations of the Ramolkamm. Plenty of visual treats for a lengthy rest. Down in the Niedertal lies the "Hohle Stein" on the path – research suggests it was a dwelling of Stone Age humans.
In Vent, 1896 m, we pass through the village and then over the Niedertaler Ache to the fork of the main routes. A wide gravel road leads with a loop into the Niedertal (shortcut possible), where we soon turn right. A minimal detour to the Hohle Stein, 2050 m, is signposted. After that, it goes uphill in numerous switchbacks on the larch slope. You gain open terrain, veer slightly to the left, and shortly reach the Hörnle plateau, 2406 m, on the northeast ridge of the Talleitspitze, which rises exactly 800 meters higher. Only the same path is available for descent.

Author
Mark Zahel
