The Saarland Hochwald is full of surprises. Deeply incised stream valleys, steep mountain slopes, and a magnificent variety of different forest formations. Larch forest, coniferous forest, then deciduous forest again. In between lively streams, whose paths are characterized by many loops and bends. Then it goes steeply uphill or downhill again. The Schlittental valley and the Wahnbachtal are the main actors in this concerted and theatrical hiking performance. The curtain is constantly opened anew, offering views into the forest, which is often not visible because of the density of trees, or views of gems and last but not least the final view into the distance over Weiskirchen. A great path. At 12 km, just right for a strong route after a late breakfast. An adventure trail for the whole family. Don’t be surprised if at the end everyone quite precisely feels or knows what they have experienced... Fun guaranteed.
