In the southwest corner of the Bregenzerwald, the high mountains around Damüls cluster tightly in a horseshoe shape. With relatively little effort, peaks there can be combined into indulgent high-altitude hikes.
From Damüls we take the Uga-Express four-seater chairlift to the mountain station, 1830 m, near the Berggasthof Elsenalpstube. A farm road leads past the nearby mountain pass Ugner Höhe, 1795 m, with the Vorderen Ugaalpe and initially towards the Damülser Rundtour to the Berggasthof Ugaalpe, 1822 m. Across pastures, a hiking trail leads to the foot of the proud Mittagspitze, later passing under a ski lift and past the intermediate elevation Hohes Licht. Then it goes steeply on a path from the Hochblankensattel, 1976 m, to the Hochblanken. Far below the third highest peak of the Bregenzerwald mountains, the Ach river squeezes through the gorge at Reuthe. Above the Mellental, the Dornbirner First forms a sharp ridge line. Behind Damüls, the magnificent Rote Wand greets you, on one side of the Faschinajoch the Zitterklapfen and the Zafernhorn, on the other side the majestic Glatthorn. The descent is harmless. Now follows the pleasant path that largely follows the quite scenic ridge height
