Easy hike from Scheffau to Hirschberg and back. Beautiful view of the Bregenzerwald and the Nagelfluh chain.

The crossing of the Rothenbach gorge surprises right at the start of the route. You do not expect such a deep gorge with huge rock walls in the still rather flat area. From Hirschbergsau, it goes over meadows and pastureland and partly forest to the summit. The Hirschbergalpe invites you to stop during the grazing season. The return route goes again through forest and meadows back to Hirschbergsau. From there, the Rothenbach gorge is crossed again.

    Author’s recommendation

The route is especially beautiful in early summer. The dandelions are blooming and opposite the mountains are still covered with snow.
