No one can resist a boat trip on the Kirnitzsch. The gorge and the fantasy figures are romantic.
Hinterhermsdorf is geographically almost part of Upper Lusatia. To the east, we already see the basalt domes of the Bohemian Central Uplands. From the south, east and north this corner of Saxony is surrounded by the Czech Republic. From the path we have a beautiful view of the village and the adjacent mountains until we enter the forest. The forest was once the livelihood of the people of Hinterhermsdorf.Following the blue dash marking, we come to the Kirnitzsch valley to the Upper Lock. From early spring until the end of October, you will be punted 700 meters on the dammed water of the Kirnitzsch: past the »Lover's Island«, the »Camel« and the »Crocodile« – the indispensable utensils of a romantic gorge. Botanical and zoological rarities led to the Kirnitzsch Gorge below the lock being declared a total reserve.
