Hinterbichl - Stabanthütte

From Hinterbichl, first go along the road into the Dorfertal. Above the former accommodation "Gamsblick," turn right onto a farm road. After taking a hairpin bend and continuing to ascend, an inconspicuous path branches off to the right. Follow this narrow path upwards until you meet the path into the Dorfertal leading to the Johannishütte. There, keep to the right and cross the slope to the east on a narrow, mostly flat path. This path is much more attractive than the ascent from Bichl, as you repeatedly have very lovely views through the trees and across meadows, including to Camping Bergkristall. This trail can also be walked with children. After some time, there is a small opening with a seating area offering a great view towards Bichl. Continue on a wider path to a farm. Then turn left, ascending the slope further on a narrow path crossing it. After a small forest, you briefly meet the driveway from Bichl, which you cross to continue ascending through meadows on narrow paths. After passing under a material cableway, you reach the driveway again. We then walked the comfortable driveway up to just below the Stabanthütte. The footpath running partly below seems quite overgrown and therefore not a worthwhile alternative. At a hairpin bend around 1,737 m, leave the driveway and begin the direct hut ascent. First crossing the meadow (somewhat exposed in a gully), then continue up a wooden ladder until shortly after you pass the welcome sign of the Stabanthütte and arrive at the nicely situated hut. This is a private hut offering food and overnight accommodation. Descent is best the same way as the ascent. Alternatively, you can descend via the driveway to Bichl and then cross westward on a path to return to the ascent route.
