Hinderi Egg and Vogelberg

Those who do not earn the cantonal high point on foot but take the Wasserfallenbahn during this hike miss the best part: the exciting hunter's trail, which leads upwards over steps and bridges past numerous waterfalls through a green gorge. The highest point of Basel-Land, however, is somewhat disappointing: it is a rock in the forest; the view from the nearby Chellenchöpfli is better. After an optional stop at the mountain inn Hintere Wasserfallen, we set out on a long ridge hike over the Vogelberg, the highest point of the route. In good weather, views of the Bernese Alps are inspiring. After descending from the Passwang into the idyllic Boge valley, the route continues through the hilly green cultural landscape back to Reigoldswil.
