The hiking route intersects in Serno, so if needed, two short hikes east and west of the village are possible. Along the way, you walk through pine and mixed forests and through and over patches full of blueberries. There are no food services, so please bring enough water and provisions.

The northernmost village in the Wittenberg district is called Stackelitz, whose name is said to have originated from a clerical error in the church register. The place name comes from the Slavic word “Staclica,” which means “glassworks.” Stackelitz is located near the deserted village of Schleesen. Worth seeing in Stackelitz is the field stone church. There is also the herb workshop of Heike Brack and the Atelier Astrid Lesnik. “Hard work, joyful festivals” is the saying hanging in the village community center in Serno. Next to it is the swimming pool. The village was founded by the Flemings in the 12th century. When the church was completed in 1830, the village was still so poor that it could not afford a bell. Therefore, a wooden bell chime was installed, which still works today. The hiking trail does not lead through Göritz but only passes by the Schwedenstein. The Gustav Adolf Church in Göritz is named in memory of the Swedish king who died in 1632, who camped in this area in 1631. In 1840, a monument made of field stones was erected in memory of this. It also commemorates the stay of the Swedish crown prince, the former French General Bernadotte, at this site in 1813. Trail condition: The path runs on forest trails, some of which are gravelled, and on agricultural (asphalted) roads.
