Hike up Hirschberg

The route starts below Hirschbergsau at the junction to Hegisberg, which is closed to outsiders. Turn left onto the paved road towards Hegisberg, Hirschberg. In Hegisberg, we leave the road and follow the signposts towards Hirschberg, shortly thereafter crossing a stream and then turning right uphill. We will return via the left path. The ascent is steep and zigzagging, always following the signposts. After about 1.5 hours, we reach the summit. Here, in good weather, a fantastic panoramic view awaits. In summer, drinks can be purchased at the Hirschbergalpe located below. After resting at the summit, we continue straight ahead along the ridge towards Ahornach, always well signposted. First, the path descends through a meadow, then through the forest. After leaving the forest, two houses appear on the right, shortly afterwards there is an unmarked path to the left. (If you miss this, you can continue along the road, which is then more paved.) In the forest, a few hundred meters later, there is a fork. We keep left and soon leave the forest again. After a few meters along the edge of the forest, turn right onto a somewhat hidden path downwards. This path later becomes a field path and then meets the paved road again. Follow this road downhill. At the next intersection, turn left towards Birkenberg Hirschbergsau. Pass the farmstead and continue downhill on a forest path. Soon after, you reach the point where you ascended to the right on the outbound route. Now return the same way.
