Hike between Leitzach and Mangfall
Cozy hike between Leitzach and Mangfall with beautiful views towards Wendelstein and Kampenwand.
Highlights:
- Nature and landscape
- Castle Vagen (Fürstenhof)
- Leitzach Valley Power Plants
- Engagement bench
From the parking lot at Seehamer Lake, the route first goes through the town of Großseeham and under the A8. You then pass through the area of the Penzenstadler company and enter nature. The Leitzach Valley is crossed, and at Auerhof the path climbs steeply again. From there, you have a beautiful view down into the Leitzach Valley.
From Schöffleiten, the trail goes downhill towards Vagen. The path along the Goldbach stream is beautiful and leads us to Castle Vagen. This castle served as a TV set for the soap opera "Storm of Love".
You then pass the Leitzach Valley power plants and can see how electricity is generated.
The path continues towards Feldolling and approaches the Mangfall River, although it does not directly cross it. After passing the connecting road from Feldolling to Vagen, you follow the trail through the Mangfall Valley and then a private road to Sterneck. At Sterneck, turn back into the forest and follow this path to Schöffleiten. A gem on this section is the engagement bench – let yourself be surprised!
From Schöffleiten, return to the starting point along the same route.
