The hiking tip leads us to the surroundings of Scheidegg. We start at the tourist office, turning right towards Bregenz. On Zollstraße, after the REWE market, we turn left into Bergwaldweg. Now it goes uphill and we leave the town. Before the street steeply rises, we turn left into the forest; the signpost indicates, among others, Oberschwenden. We follow the path leading to the Prinzregent Luitpold Clinic. This was built between 1912 and 1916 and was one of the first major building blocks in the development of Scheidegg as a spa and recreation destination. We walk around the clinic and straight ahead past the 'skywalk' parking lot. At the edge of the forest, we turn right, and after 50 meters immediately left again towards Möggers/Pfänder. The forest path takes us near the Ulrich Chapel, which we can see from the path. A short detour and visit to the over 1,000-year-old little church is always worthwhile. The spring at the chapel not only quenches thirst but is said to help with eye ailments when you wash them. Those who visit the chapel return down to our hiking path and then turn right, all others simply continue straight towards Pfänder/Bromatsreute. The path continues through the forest until the signpost guides us left towards Bromatsreute/Oberstein. The path now goes downhill again; we come out of the forest onto a meadow, and at the next fork we keep right towards Bromatsreute/Pfänder. Before the path leads us back into the forest, we enjoy the view of the Bregenzerwald. After the short forest section, it goes left downhill towards Unterstein/Scheffau. We follow the shady path and cross a stream, then continue left towards Unterstein before later turning right onto the paved road towards Scheffau. After a short section, we keep left and follow the signposts towards Lindenau/Hagspiel. We reach Lindenau via Bühl; then it continues left to Hagspiel. Before reaching the first houses there, we turn right towards the forest educational trail. After crossing district road 2386, we follow the path straight to Ruhmühle. Here it goes uphill again; the road bends left, but we continue right towards Schalkenried/Böserscheidegg. At the forest edge stands a field cross on the left side, which a Scheidegg citizen erected here in 1949 after returning from Russian captivity. We continue to Schalkenried, where a short detour leads to the smallest chapel on the Scheidegg chapel circular route: the Martina Chapel from 1622, then left onwards to Ablers. Now we continue right; one last ascent brings us back over the spa road to Scheidegg.
