Author’s recommendation
The hike should be done clockwise, according to the description. This makes it easier for the hiker to orient themselves in the terrain, as a meadow path for a very short distance is really just "meadow."
Good footwear is needed when wet.

The hike starts in the village of Heyerode (part of Sontra). We leave the houses via Steinbühlstrasse and ascend to the meadows and fields above the village. Just before the edge of the forest, a meadow path branches off from the paved farm road. We take this and now walk past pastures to later rejoin a farm road. After a few meters, the path forks; we go left (photo). Now we are on a gravel road which gently and steadily ascends. Once at the hilltop, we turn left on the first path and are now on a meadow path. The view over the unique landscape with hedges and fields, shaped by agriculture, would captivate any painter.
Our path really disappears into a meadow at the end (photo). But we easily recognize the continuation path, which we take to the right. This first leads through a slight depression and then uphill to a paved lane.
We see the roofs of Rockensüss far down in the valley on the left. However, our route continues to the right. Soon the paved lane turns into a gravel road. We follow it straight ahead; we leave a minor path by a hedge (photo) on the right. Shortly afterwards, a geological attraction catches our eye, a large sinkhole (photo). Here we turn right onto a wide gravel road, down to a barn. We pass this and reach a paved road again. Now turn right, and when this road makes a 90° left curve, we enter the meadow path on the right. We now hike gently uphill towards the forest and then continue into it. At the first crossroads, our path sharply turns left, downhill. As of October 2019, this junction lies at the edge of a large clearing.
The forest path leads downhill, past the Holleteich pond and out of the forest. In a long bend to the right, it goes leisurely downhill between fields until we soon recognize the houses of Heyerode in the distance, our destination.
