A very easy summit route along the Carnic ridge. From the Helm you enjoy the best view of the peaks of the Sexten Dolomites. The Helm cable cars bring the hiker a little closer to the destination.
The starting point of the mountain hike is the western edge of the Carnic ridge. Two cable cars lead to the so-called cone spots, one from Vierschach and one from Sexten. For the described route, take the gondola from Sexten to 2000 m altitude. The Carnic high trail begins at the mountain station. On path no. 50, follow the sign "Hahnspielhütte" and initially walk almost level along the hut trail and through the wide valley to the ridge that leads to the Helm summit. The steep ascent (left) is marked with nr. 4A. For the descent, hike along the summit path no. 4A down the entire ridge to Lärchenboden and further to Negerdörfl. There you meet path no. 13, which leads to the Mitterberg fortress and then directly to Sexten.
