To get a first impression of the beauties of the Seiser Alm, the path created in memory of the famous mountaineering couple Hans Steger and Paula Wiesinger is ideal. You start at the mountain station of the Seiser-Alm-Bahn in Compatsch and end the three-hour hike with a glass of good South Tyrolean wine in the center of the alpine pasture area, in the hotel restaurant Saltria, from where the half-hourly bus takes you back to the starting point.
From the valley station in Seis, we take the Seiser-Alm-Bahn up to the mountain station. Here, we walk 200 m to the right (south) on the local road into the center of Compatsch, 1844 m. Here we turn left onto the Hans and Paula Steger path (trail no. 30), on which we first walk eastwards level through meadows, then slightly uphill with a beautiful view back to the Schlern and the characteristic rock towers of the Euringer and Santner peaks. The distant view stretches north to the Central Alps. We soon reach the Seiser-Alm-Straße again (shuttle bus stop "Steger"), which we cross to the left. Beyond, we go briefly uphill to the southeast on an asphalt road to the Hotel Steger-Dellai, 1858 m. On a natural road, we hike upwards through meadows and forest to a ridge with a resting place. There we turn right and shortly head south up to the Tuene hut, 1900 m, from
