The starting point is the Niger Pass (1690 m), a few kilometers from the Karer Pass, on State Road 65 towards Tiers. From there on SAT No.1, steep but fortunately through the forest, to a junction, from here straight on SAT No.7. This is one of the steepest and most exhausting sections of the entire hike, so it requires some patience with children. After about 45 minutes we cross the Schwaige stream and continue to the vicinity of the Baumann Schwaige (1845 m), which we however do not reach, here the forest ends and the path continues through wide meadows with a wonderful view under the towers of Vajolet. Some sections in the forest, sometimes uphill, over large pastures still separate us from our goal: the Hanicker Schwaige in a small valley.
