Perched on a ridge at the edge of the “Parzinn” Hochkar, the Hanauer Hütte stands amidst a truly magnificent mountain landscape. It is framed by a three-quarter circle of large rocky peaks—striking formations with high walls and striking, vertical rock layers. Right in the background of the valley, the elegant Dremelspitze (2,733 m) stands out as a particular eye-catcher. But even the approach to the hut through the rocky Angerletal Valley treats hikers to impressive views.
From the Hanauer Hütte parking lot near Boden, cross the Angerlebach and follow the road south into the valley. The trail leads through sparse forest, soon crossing the flat meadows of the Angerleben and several stream beds filled with scree. At the valley station of the material cable car, a wide hiking trail begins, heading toward the end of the valley and climbing up increasingly steep slopes. Finally, at a fork, turn left and ascend in a few switchbacks to the Hanauer Hütte, which has been visible for quite some time. To get even closer to the large rocky peaks like the Dremelspitze, you can hike further south across the flat grassy and mountain pine-covered slopes. Or you can climb southwest to the picturesque Parzinnsee (45 min.), in which the peak of the same name is reflected. Return to Boden via the same trail you took up.
