This short but partly somewhat challenging circular route leads through and around the picturesque Monreal located in the Elzbach valley, which is dominated by Löwenburg and Philippsburg. The attractions in the historic town center include around 40 half-timbered houses as well as the middle of the three stone bridges with the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk and the late Gothic lion monument. From the Löwenburg observation tower, we enjoy a magnificent view of the town.
From the train station parking lot at the signal box in Monreal, we walk past the school to another parking lot, along a path next to the Elzbach (Traumpfade/access path + K logo) and over the bridge. On the opposite bank, we continue to follow the course of the stream, guided by the sign "To the historic town center" (Elzer Weg), and soon spot the castles. At a junction, we follow the left sign "Monrealer Ritterschlag 0.1 km". Shortly afterwards, we cross the Elzbach and look at the Upper Castle Bridge. We pass by the Old Parsonage, with a view of Löwenburg, and at the church turn right onto a footpath, offering an impressive view of the half-timbered houses on the Elzbach. Via stone steps, we climb up to Kirchstraße, turn briefly right and then the next junction right into Obertorstraße. We cross the Elz on the historic stone bridge (Middle Elz Bridge) with the lion monument and Nepomuk statue. From the bridge, there is again a wonderful view of the half-timbered houses by the
