Hahnbaum circular route

The starting point of the hike is the parking lot at the forest swimming pool. Behind the swimming pool, follow the Arzenbachgraben to the Zacherlegg farm, here take the level driveway a bit to the right and finally go left along a meadow up to the top station of the drag lift. From there follow the path into the forest and cross two ditches. Then you come to a slightly wider driveway and follow it over a larch-covered meadow to the service road on the Hahnbaum. Partly steep path! From Hahnbaumalm (not operated) follow the path to Vogei Hütt’n and to Hotel Hahnbaum.

On the way back take the path towards Kohlbichl. Take the path downhill in a wide curve towards Kohlbichlgut. From there take the level driveway under the double chairlift towards the drag lift. Here you meet the ascent route again, follow this path about 200 m, then take the left turn towards the farm Großunterberg under the chairlift. Then follow the road downhill past the Hetzenbichl inn, take the turn towards Hubangerl/Pension Sonne and pass the guesthouse to return to the starting point at the swimming pool.

The Hahnbaum is also accessible by car. The access is from St. Johann towards Wagrain. After about 3 km you come to a left turn (Hahnbaumweg), from there follow the road about 3 km until you reach your destination.
