Hacklwald round

From WZ 2 past Marzoll castle and the church of St. Valentin over the state border (barrier) and on a paved foot/cycle path, keep left along the federal road to the Salzburg Open-Air Museum. Turn right here and follow a sandy hiking trail initially along the grounds of the open-air museum. First uphill, then flat, the path leads through a romantic spruce forest ("Hacklwald") in the Untersberg Nature Park to the Latschenwirt. A sandy lane ("Latschenstraße") leads into the parking area of the forest inn, initially downhill, then slightly uphill and down again to farmhouses. Over meadows with a beautiful view of the Untersberg and the mountains around Reichenhall, the now asphalted Latschenstraße leads to Hinterreit until the junction with the road to Salzburg. Keep right on the paved foot/cycle path downhill to the junction to Marzoll, turn left back to the starting point.
