Uphill hike from Perfeldhof via Hacklbergsee to the West Summit

From Perfeldhof, you head towards Hackelbergalm and from there continue to Hacklbergsee and to the mountain station of the West Summit gondola, with which you then master the descent. The hike begins leisurely towards Schwarzachergraben – up to the junction "Hacklbergalm." There the ascent begins on a paved gravel road, which can occasionally be shortened by hiking trails. Upon arrival at Hacklbergalm, you can stop there and take a break – with a wonderful view of the 12erKogel and Hinterglemm. After that, a path leads behind the alpine pasture to the namesake lake. This is a true power spot with its idyllic waters and the breathtaking scenery around it. You can "go around" Saalbachkogel and don't have to climb it – but you should! The view of the Hohe Tauern is fabulous! You continue between dwarf pine fields towards Stemmerkoel and your destination: the West Summit.
Author’s recommendation
The route can of course also be done in the opposite direction and is then very easy.
Anyone who wants can also attempt the ascent to Hochkogel from Hacklbergsee – or continue as planned towards the West Summit.
