The Hacklberg itself is a rather inconspicuous forest summit - however, there is a view during the circular hiking trail, which is a pleasant hiking program for the whole family. Passing by the beautiful premises of Rangjung Yeshe Gomde, with the cozy snack station Derischleiten, and due to the great view over the Almtal valley, into the Dead Mountains and up to the Traunstein, the forest hike makes for an ideal program for hot summer days.
I have compiled a detailed photo report about the tour >>HERE<<.

From the starting point, we followed the well-visible path uphill, passing the picturesque premises of Rangjung Yeshe Gomde, the Buddhist center for meditation and studies. Prayer flags and blooming gardens lined our way as we walked past the center. Directly behind it, we crossed a forest road and, following a hiking marker, walked over a cart track into the forest. Shortly after, we reached a fork in the path where we went uphill to the right (caution, this is not marked). You could also continue straight ahead, which would lead in a somewhat larger loop also to the Hacklberg. We walked uphill for a few minutes along a moderately ascending forest path until we reached a forest road again. We followed this along a broad mountain ridge to the right until we reached the inconspicuous and unmarked summit of the Hacklberg. We did not stay there long but continued in the opposite direction to our ascent path. It didn't take long until the forest thinned out, first offering beautiful views to the north over the Alpine foothills and finally south over the Almtal valley into the Dead Mountains. We finally took a pleasant break on a cozy bench under a large linden tree. Right at this beautiful tree, a forest road leads uphill northwards - our descent route. In some serpentine bends, we descended the altitude meters until we arrived again at the premises of Rangjung Yeshe Gomde. A lovely path leads under Tibetan prayer flags, through well-kept gardens, and past a pond until our ascent and descent routes converged right at the farm.
Finally, we paid a visit to the snack station Derischleiten.
