In Schweigen, the Wine Gate marks the beginning (or the end) of the German Wine Route.
Guttenberg Castle was built in the 12th century and destroyed in the Peasants' War in 1525, after which it fell into ruin. Restoration began after 1986.
Parts of the bergfried (main tower) are preserved in the upper castle, and in the lower castle a section of the 7 m high ring wall can be seen. Excavations from the castle are displayed in the Bad Bergzabern City Museum.
The nearly 7 km² Mundat Forest surrounding the castle was annexed by France in 1949. Since 1986 the forest has been German territory again, but forestry usage is carried out by France.
A special attraction is the forest spirits hiking trail in the Otterbach valley. The woodcarver Volker Dahl carved faces into tree stumps, roots, and trunks here and brought many forest spirits to life with paint. He also shaped forest animals from wood. Along the trail, over 60 of his carvings repeatedly surprise and amuse visitors.

Here our hiking trail meets the Palatinate Wine Trail again. The three markings now lead us along the western flank of the 455 m high Querenberg to a former entrenchment from 1704, from which we have a good view northwards to Stäffelsberg with the Schänzelturm, and to the Three Beeches. From there, we ascend on the Palatinate Wine Trail and the white stripe with black dot to the
