The route continues from Gsenghof up to the power place Gerzkopf - a magnificent raised bog landscape with a moor lake and an impressive 360-degree panorama.
The way back is either the same path, or you can close the loop via the "Gsengplatte"
The Gerzkopf is a Natura2000 protected area. With the largest dwarf pine belt in Central Europe. The Black Lacke at Gerzkopf is worth seeing. There is a place to eat at the start and finish of the route - the Gsengalm. Garlic cheese - a delicious treat that you better not miss.
Author’s recommendation
You must not miss a visit to our shepherdess! Her hut lies up at Gerzkopf. But be careful - it’s not certain if the shepherdess is actually in the hut. So be cautious and bring something for a snack ...

Our hike starts at the barrier below the Gsenghofalm. The first section of the path goes along the forest road, past the feeding place for deer towards Gerzkopf. After about 25 minutes of walking, we reached the marked junction. Here we leave the forest road and hike right up a forest and root trail. (Path no. 52A) We follow this hiking trail, crossing the forest road again and again until we are above the tree line. The view over Torstein and Bischofsmütze greets us already. 200 meters further we see the small shepherd’s hut but we turn left. The hiking trail leads somewhat steeper uphill through a dwarf pine field. We walk right past the black Lacke, through heather bushes and dwarf pines, we soon reach the summit.
On the way back, we hike the same way back.
