Grünberg (984 m) from inn Hoisn via Dürrenberg
Then through the forest, always ascending in the same direction to the large trail intersection Radmoos. From here, follow the trail northwest until you reach a wide forest road. Follow this road to the restaurant at Grünberg.
Author’s recommendation
For this, you must leave the final forest road about 10 minutes before the Grünberg summit to the right (signpost). You reach the highest point of Hochgschirr in a few minutes and can descend back to the forest road on the opposite side.

Safety information
Technically completely uncomplicated. The main problem on Grünberg is the frequently encountered "dirt." The mountain is part of the flysch zone. You hardly encounter rocks on Grünberg; instead, the paths and trails are earthy and therefore often slippery. In late autumn, slippery leaves add to this problem.
Tips and suggestions
The district capital Gmunden is always worth a visit. Especially the ceramic carillon at Gmunden town hall is worth hearing.Of course, you can also do the descent by cable car. However, then you have to hike several kilometers on Traunsteinstraße back to the starting point.
Roadbook
The hike starts immediately on the eastern shore of Lake Traunsee at the popular excursion inn Hoisn. Pass the inn on the left and ascend on the trail starting here (partially paved!) towards Kaltenbachwildnis.
At the first signposted junction, keep left, cross the Gschliefgraben, and ascend to the ridge of Dürrenberg (687 m). Now continue uphill on this more or less pronounced forest ridge until you reach the large trail intersection Radmoos (many signposts, educational trail boards).
Then sharply left onto the path that leads towards Grünberg. This path is first flat, then a bit steeper until you reach a wide forest road. Follow this road first to the large building of the "Canopy Walk", the cable car mountain station, and the inn at Grünberg (984 m).
Descent is the same as the ascent.

Directions
Take the A1 West motorway to the Regau exit. Then continue on federal road B145 to Gmunden.
Since summer 2020, parking conditions in the area have changed. Parking along Traunsteinstraße is now only limitedly possible. All parking spots along the road on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm are short-term parking zones (maximum parking duration 3 hours). Additionally, the number of parking spaces has been greatly reduced.
Therefore, for mountaineers, it is better to park at the large parking lots at the start of Traunsteinstraße. From there, shuttle buses (from 5:30 am) and the Traunstein taxi operate.
Parking
Few parking options are available on Traunsteinstraße (short-term parking zone), or better at the large parking lot (fee required) in Gmunden. From there, shuttle buses go to the starting point.Coordinates
