Here we find a very special forest landscape at the border between Germany and the Czech Republic, when we have reached the rocky summit Zwercheck. Along the former Iron Curtain, lush blueberry meadows intermingle with dead spruce trees and intact forests. The white-blue border posts lead in constant ups and downs towards the still distant peaks of the Osser massif. A fantastic tour along a former border strip that repeatedly offers free views into both countries.
From the car park below the church in Lohberg we follow the blue S of the Goldsteig along the St2154 past the Tourist Information to a hiking signpost. Here we turn left with the marking Lo5 into Schulweg. At the next signpost, variant 1 turns left, but we continue straight down a forest path over the Perlesbach. Then the path rises up to a war memorial with rest benches and a view of the Großer Arber. To the left, we follow a small road to a solitary house. To the left in the background rise the two Osser peaks. We turn right into the spruce forest. Soon the path narrows to a trail and reaches a clearing. Along a line of trees with another view of Osser, we go to the hamlet Oberhaiderberg. Here after the first house, we turn right into the forest to a crossroads and continue left uphill. From a bench at a meadow we have a wonderful view into the Lamer Winkel with the Hohenbogen in the background. Our forest path widens, crosses the St2154 and dives back into the forest. About 10
