The Schlicke is a powerful, remarkably rounded summit when viewed from the north, located on a subsidiary ridge of the Tannheim Mountains that extends far to the east. On one side steep rocky walls drop down, while on the south side green, but steep slopes lead up to the summit cross, additionally "tamed" by a trail. The Schlicke tour is especially accentuated by views of the wild, up to 700 meters high cliffs of the large Tannheim Mountains such as Gimpel, 2176 m, and Köllenspitze, 2238 m. Besides the usual route, there is a slightly longer variant (north route) which offers more excitement. The highlight is reaching the Vilser Scharte, cut like a gate.
From the valley station of the Füssener-Jöchle-Bahn at Grän, you initially take the gondola comfortably up to the mountain station, 1818 m, which lies directly at the Füssener Jöchle. From here, cross an alpine path through grass terrain towards the southeast ("Schartschrofen, Otto-Mayr-Hütte, 414") and shortly thereafter reach the Raintaler Joch, 1840 m, east of the Läuferspitze, with a short ascent. Here opens a fascinating view of the wild and steep north face of the Gimpel (2176 m). At the pass, keep to the left ("Große Schlicke, 414"), crossing slightly downhill towards the east and arriving at a trail junction at about 1780 m. Here you could descend right towards Raintal and the Otto-Mayr-Hütte. However, continue straight ahead ("Große Schlicke") to take the upper trail. Our rather flat and thus easy route runs through dwarf pine fields, crosses the south slopes of the Hahnenkopf and finally leads after a short ascent directly to the Vilser Scharte, 1817 m. At the pass, continue
