The circular hike leads over a cozy local mountain. The Große Mittager can be climbed all year round. It is also very popular with snowshoe hikers.
The circular hike over the Große Mittager starts in Falzeben. On trail no. 14, you walk comfortably through the forest past the Zuegg and Rotwand huts to the Kirchsteigeralm and further towards the “Kesselberg.” At the mountain saddle below the Kesselberghütte, trail no. 13 branches off to the right, crossing the mountain flank of the Mittager and leading to the Mittagerjoch. Then you turn left and ascend to the summit of the Große Mittager. For the descent, take trail no. 13 to the widely visible Mittager hut. The marked trail leads downhill back to the Kirchsteigeralm and on to Falzeben, where the circular hike ends.
