Große Fleißtal - Hocharn, 3254 m
The Hocharn closes the Große Fleißtal with its steeply repelling west wall, in the rocks of which ores and semi-precious stones slumber. In the Große Fleißtal we pass through three vegetation zones into alpine terrain and into the realm of the three-thousanders.
From the Kleine Fleißalm we proceed as in Tour 9 via the Große Fleißalm to the Nassfeld. From there a dirt path leads into the now easterly running and narrowing valley with rocky slopes and grassy grounds (signpost on a larch tree). Where a massive moraine shapes the high alpine landscape at the end of the valley, the partly resting on low stone walls path (an old alpine path) swings to the opposite side of the valley with a dilapidated stone hut at 2280 m. On higher situated grassy slopes, we watch for uphill pointing marking arrows before only a path over grassy hills and dry slope ditches leads into the large block scree, which is bordered to the east by a vertically running lateral moraine. A path with many hairpin bends winds up the block scree to the Otto Umlauft bivouac box (total 4.30 hours from Kleine Fleißalm). We leave the bivouac in an easterly direction and circle around the Arlthöhe, 3084 m, on the south side (large blocks, marked blue) or on the north side on a slope
