Greek Islands Trail - Tinos Section (Tinos Trail T1 - The Three Capitals)
The Greek Islands Trail Tinos Section connects the current capital of Chora with the ancient one of Poles and the medieval one of Xombourgo in a circular route through the backcountry of Tinos island.
Trail T1 begins in Chora (today's capital) and it successively passes through some of the most popular sights of the island of Tinos, such as the Holy Monastery of Virgin Mary Evangelistria, Poles (the capital of the island in antiquity) and Xombourgo (the capital in Medieval times). The return trip to Chora crosses the villages of Karya and Mountados (from where one can access the Holy Monastery of Kechrovounio). The trail goes around the Dam of Vaketa and the surrounding rural area, traverses Chora’s “industrial area” and after a stroll through the scenic paved roads of the settlement it arrives again at the starting point.
